My Sweet Blue Angel...

OMG OMG OMG!!!

For the past few weeks I have been searching for a particular cultivar of Hosta called “Blue Angel” but to no avail. I knew I could get it through mailorder from Wayside Gardens but I didn’t want to pay their prices + shipping, I wanted to buy local. I have searched every place I could think off but all those nursery’s carried were the more popular ones you see being sold everywhere else. I’m convinced there’s a Hosta conspiracy going on!

Anyway, today I suddenly remembered that there is a Home Depot close to work and I wanted to see if they carried the Mister Landscaper parts for my irrigation system. As usually happens I got completely distracted in the outdoor plant section looking at herbs, (I bought a Stevia and a Greek Oregano plants), when I suddenly discovered their Hosta section. I started looking through the tags expecting not to find what I was looking for when one of the tags just threw itself at me!!!

OK, I exaggerate a little but I knew what “type” of leaf and colour I was looking for and beelined for those. I was disappointed at first but then I suddenly found what I was looking for!!! Voila, I am now (finally) the very proud owner of a “Blue Angel” Hosta!!!

I should point out that this is probably the largest Hosta variety. It grows to a mound about 4 ft in size and its leaves are huge compared to more regular varieties, often about 1 ft in size!!!
