Boldly Going...

So, I grew up making sure I was home on time to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation on TV each day. I was a closet geek from an early age! I never really liked the original Star Trek with Spock, Kirk et al.. as I found it quite dated and old fashioned but that didn’t prevent us going to see the new Star Trek movie this past weekend.
All I can really say is that two-for-two now, two great movies in as many weeks!

I’m sure the true Trekkie’s could pull this movie apart with a fine comb, telling us that it doesn’t hold true to the original etc.. But you know what, who cares! Most people who will go to see this movie aren’t “die-hards” but they do know off the franchise and probably really enjoy it.

Without giving the plot away, this movie shows us how all the popular original characters met and found themselves on board the USS Enterprise. It gives us an alternative beginning which I found completely plausible and am looking forward to seeing how the franchise “runs” with it. This movie opens up a whole slew of new, alternative movie possibilities that will appeal to a newer generation of Trekkie’s.

Personally I found it very well done and thoroughly enjoyed it.
