I'm Very Disturbed.

What does it say about us as a people that we are demanding to be shown pictures of a dead man?

Yes, he was probably the most hated man in the world. Yes, he was considered by most to be pure evil. And yes, he was responsible for the deaths of THOUSANDS of men, women and children. But why do we need to see photographs of the man's head with a giant gaping bullet hole in it? How is this proof? Given time, money or inclination photographs can be faked just like DNA results (not that I believe they were). How is it any more "real" because it is an image rather than written results?

The sad, unfortunate fact is that they will be released. And they WILL go viral. As much as I don't want to see the images, I know that I live in a time when I will turn on the television one morning and be confronted by these images whether I like it or not. The television and print media will hound us with these images for days and the internet will spread them like a virus.

I fall back on the previous statement I made about the chanting of "USA!" in the streets. How does this make us any better than THEM?

  1. I was surprised by the events that happened but certainly didn't feel the need to run out in the street and start celebrating. That action seems so...wrong.

And I'm glad that the decision has been made to keep the pictures classified and not release them. Here's hoping no one gets a hand on them and decides to leak them.
