Joy and Rememberance

I'm up at ridicuous o'clock to watch a Royal wedding.

Its been 30 years since I watched my last. I was five. Back then we sat watching the television, Union Jack flags in hand, as Diana was driven to St Pauls to marry her Prince. Watching her walk up those front steps was magical, what little girl doesn't want to be a princess?

It also reminds me of standing out all night on The Mall with thousands of strangers as we mourned her tragic passing.

Now it's many years later, and many things have happened since. I may be a world away this time around but it doesn't mean I feel any less patriotic. I feel incredibly connected to "home" right now and love that we still hold the pomp and circumstance so close to our hearts. Others may not "get" it but its a part of who we are as a people.

I am English. I am British. I am proud to be so.
