I'm excited because I finally have both the books I ordered a week or two ago from AbeBooks.
Anathema! arrived about a week ago and documents the verbal curses that scribes / writers would place in their books to protect them. I can't wait to read this one as I'm sure I will end up chuckling hard.
Biblioclasm is the second book and finally arrived in this mornings mail. The cover page tells us that this book is about "the mythical origins, magic powers, and perishability of the written word".
Both are by Mark Drogin who is known with in SCA circles for his book on the history and techniques of medieval calligraphy. I can't wait to read them as I get the feeling they're gonna be slightly odd-ball having read a couple of the quotes he's used throughout the books.
First I must finish "The Great Mortality" =)
