Swingin’ in the Breeze

Originally posted  March 31, 2009
I hate grass with a passion! Its boring to look at, takes an incredible amount of effort to keep it looking great and its not very benefical to pollinating bugs. So, last year we killed it off!
The past couple of weekends have involved creating our little courtyard oasis (sans grass) , now it is finished ecept for dressing. The hammock support is up and awaiting the planting of a Honeysuckle Vine to sprall seductively over it to beckon the little Hummingbirds that visit the garden each year. What was once an ugly grass area full of lumps and holes is now a beautiful flat, pea-gravel beach just awaiting the company of containers filled with lush plants, vegetables and herbs to seduce the visiting bug dignitaries.
Here is the mess I went outside to a couple of weekends ago…

And here is a new and improved “courtyard” that will get potted window-dressing as the weather warms up…

I can’t wait for a warm sunny day when I can swing lazily in that hammock, book in hand and lemonade at my side.
